I first started teaching swim lessons at 16. At first I thought it would be just a fun summer job. I had no idea back then this would become my full time career. I taught swim lessons and coached swim team throughout high school and college. After graduating college from Illinois State University with a Bachelors of Science in Apparel Merchandising, I worked as an Assistant Manager at Nordstrom. I then started working at Edward Health & Fitness Center as their Children’s Aquatics Coordinator. I worked there for seven years before purchasing Chicago Swim School with Rob. I am the mother of four children, Anthony, Maxwell, Isabella, and Cecelia. Each of them have taught me many different things like patience, to see everyone as being special, and to speak the truth. One thing that all four of them have taught me is that everyone learns differently. All four of my children have a unique learning style. One of my kids needs visual cues while the other needs auditory cues. My other child needs hands on help and the other one can figure it out for themselves. In learning this from my own children, we have adapted many different techniques to help children succeed at CSS. When I am not busy with my kids or working I enjoy doing crafts . I love scrap booking and doing projects I find on Pinterest. I also like doing small home improvement projects. Most people will also tell you that I almost always have a cup of coffee with me!
I have my Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University. After graduating, I taught at the high school level for 3 years before moving to a pool management company where I was responsible for all lifeguard training and systems development. That company built an indoor pool for swim lessons and I then transitioned into the General Manager position where the program grew from 150 students per week to over 1100. I have also coached competitively for over 8 years before devoting all his time to teaching kids to swim. In my free time I am an avid cyclist and skier. I reside in Chicago with my wife Kim, two kids, Ryne & Kira.
