Classes
StarBaby
StarBaby is our parent and child, learn to swim program for children ages 6 to 36 months. Our curriculum, which includes 4 progressive levels, leading the young child to swimming without assistance, has been developed using the guidelines established by the United States Swim School Association! Our philosophy is to introduce infants, at an early age, to being confident in the water using developmentally appropriate activities that promote play, exploration, and encouragement. The goals of this program are developing students who are comfortable underwater, back floating, and swimming with breathing.
The descriptions below will help you learn about each level. All new babies will begin in StarBaby 1 so parents can learn cues to give their child and correct holding positions.
StarBaby 1: 6-15 months and ALL NEW Students 15-36 months
In this level students will learn Splashing, Kicking, Entering and Exiting the pool, Back float, Jumping in, and Beginning Submersions underwater. Parents will learn about our program, correct ways to hold your child in the water, and the importance of Safety starting at a young age.
StarBaby 2: 16-24 months
StarBaby 2 is for students who have completed StarBaby 1. Babies will learn scooping, kicking, and begin to do more of the skills from StarBaby 1 but will begin to do the skills more independently. Parents will continue to learn more holding positions and continue teaching their child about Safety.
StarBaby 3: 25-35 months
StarBaby 3 is for students that have completed StarBaby 2. In StarBaby 3 children will be comfortable doing more skills by themselves including going underwater. Babies will begin to ask to enter the water by themselves, Jump in and return to the wall, and advanced back floating. Parents will learn more about Water Safety program and giving positive feedback to their child while swimming.
StarBaby 4-Transistions: 30-36 months
StarBaby 4 is a class for 2 ½ year olds to begin the transition to “BIG” kid swim lessons. This class is meant to be repeated no more than two times. The class will begin with the parent in the water for the entire 30 minute class. Each lesson the parent will gradually be in the pool for less time and taking more turns with the instructor.
The StarBaby curriculum is broken into 5 concepts:
• Comfort - designed to get the student confident in the water thru activities such as splashing, floating and dumping water over their
head.
• Safety - designed to introduce the student to the concept of getting themselves back to safety (the wall) and rolling from their front to
back.
• Breath Control - using our submersion progression, breath control is the foundation for going underwater.
• Movement - designed to introduce the idea of the student moving thru the water with kicking and scooping of the arms. Initially the
parent will have to provide most of the movement, however the child will catch on with repeated practice.
• Parent Education - Our goal is to educate the parent with information on general water safety, holding positions, and how to work with
their children to create a happy water experience.

Child Group Lessons
Our program is divided by ability as well as age catering to children at different stages of development. Students are grouped by ages of 3-6yrs and 7-12yrs for the first 3 levels. The program is built around the concept that there is a shared core of aquatic skills that every person needs to know to be proficient in the water, regardless of their age. The core competencies provide the foundation that will enable students to learn correct swimming stroke technique.
White: (3-6yrs) (7-12yrs)
This student is a beginner, probably a little nervous, and has little swimming experience. They will work on becoming more confident and relaxed in the water on their front and back, while aiming toward total body submersion.

Private/Semi-Private Lessons
Many students work better in a private or semi-private situation rather than in a group. Because of this we offer private and semi-private lessons based on availability. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. The goals of the student are discussed before the first lesson and then a plan is developed to accomplish their objectives. We follow the general skill progression of our group lesson curriculum, however it is customized based on the student's goals. We offer private and semi-private lessons for all ability levels starting with the very beginner to the advanced competitive swimmer looking for technique instruction and analysis.
